Dictation as an add-on, or dictation that's already inside the record
DictateIT has a genuinely strong record: it launched in Irish healthcare in March 2022, won a place on the NHS Commercial Solution Procurement Framework for digital dictation in January 2023, and now sells Ambient Listening, an AI scribe that drafts notes and letters. What it isn't is a practice-management system — it's a separate product from Lanas Healthcare Technologies (formerly Clanwilliam Group), which also owns Socrates, HealthOne, iMedDoc and DGL Practice Manager. Ask Brigid's dictation is built into the record itself, in one system, for one price.
A drafted letter, or a transcript you write from
DictateIT's Ambient Listening listens in the background and drafts SOAP notes, consultation summaries and patient letters, with a version for private care. Ask Brigid does not generate notes or letters: consult dictation returns a transcript of the consultation for the clinician to review, push-to-talk dictation types what you say into any field, and the clinical content stays the clinician's.
One bill, not one more line item
DictateIT prices per user, on top of the practice-management system you already pay for: its UK primary-care packages start from £5 a month, and an August 2023 post priced Swift at £23 per user per month. Ask Brigid's dictation comes with both plans, inside the €129 or €299 flat monthly price per practice; consult dictation draws on the plan's Clinical Intelligence allowance.
Who should stay with DictateIT
A consultant happy with their current practice system, who wants proven dictation or an ambient scribe that drafts notes and letters added on top, is well served by DictateIT. Its track record on that job is longer than Ask Brigid's early-access dictation has had to build, and Ask Brigid does not draft notes or letters.
